Tonawanda, NY - The recently opened Energy Efficiency Training Center, located at 34 Peuquet Pkwy in Tonawanda, NY, has been awarded "Affiliate" status with the Building Performance Institute (BPI).
The BPI offers nationally recognized training, certification, accreditation and quality assurance programs in an ongoing effort to raise the bar and provide excellence in home performance contracting. Affiliate status means that the courses taught at the Energy Efficiency Training Center meet the professional standards of the BPI. More information on BPI can be found at: www.bpi.org.
The Energy Efficiency Training Center was established with the goal of training individuals seeking to become weatherization technicians. The Center includes an entire house inside the company' s 2,400 square foot facility. The "house" features four different types of siding and paneling on the outside, and all the normal walls, slopes and crawl spaces that exist in an average structure. It also includes an attic. A simulated basement is adjacent to the main area. More information on the Energy Efficiency Training Center can be found at: www.energyefficiencytrainingcenter.com.
The Energy Efficiency Training Center serves several audiences. The courses are designed for employees of companies already involved in segments of the weatherization industry, building trades personnel involved in energy efficient improvements for homes, and individuals seeking to acquire the skills needed to seek employment in the weatherization industry. All courses emphasize hands on, real world, on-the-job style training. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 targeted $5 billion in weatherization funding, stimulating a need for more weatherization jobs.
All courses offered through the Energy Efficiency Training Center feature open enrollment. That means there are no pre-entry requirements to be met. The training is available to any adult 18 and over who is interested in delivery residential energy efficiency services as a career. Three courses are currently offered at the Energy Efficiency Training Center ranging from introduction to weatherization techniques to supervisory level training.
More information on individual courses and online registration is offered at www.energyefficiencytrainingcenter.com.
